It starts before they're even in school. I've sat down and watched Saturday morning cartoons with my five year old and I'm utterly disgusted. Even the cartoons portray a body image that is impossible to acheive.

just sick...7 year olds caring about their looks...
by under74 inmy sister says my niece keeps coming home after school crying because a couple kids have been calling her names...primarily "fat.
" and now she's starting to say that she doesn't "look good" in certain things and has said that she's "fat.
she's thinner than i was at her age--7. and i never thought about what i weighed at 7. i don't even think about what i weigh now because i'm not worried about it...i know i'm not overweight so why bother?

pathetic
by schne_belly inisnt this just pathetic.
i work for my father (a current jw) and we have some jw customers.
since my recent fading, one particular customer, an elder, has come into work for business and then carried it further to encouraging me offering a hearing ear etc.

"This is really the key. He could continue to pop in and "encourage" you without bugging you a bit if it weren't for the fear. When I came to the understanding that these guys really had no power over me at all and are just dudes on the street like anybody else, that's when I really felt free."
Well said AlmostAtheist. I agree wholeheartedly. Once I realized that their doctrine is critically flawed and that they aren’t what they preach that they are, they lost all power over me.I too have a similar situation. My mother is still an active JW and occasionally she’ll stop by my house on a return visit type call with other JWs. One time she brought an, and to top that off, he was an elder that I was particularly fearful toward. She had told him that I had asked for a copy of the WT CD-ROM and they thought this was because I was interested in studying the Watchtower. Well I flat out told him that I have problems with their doctrinal changes, I appreciated them stopping by, but unfortunately I’m not interested in anything they have to say at this point in time. What could they do but leave? I felt bad in a way because I was basically asking them both, my mother included to leave. Hey, she’s welcome in my house any time, even if she wants to try to preach. But don’t try to bring the supporting cast to help you out of a pickle.
Any way since this incident I’ve had it out with my mom a time or two regarding my feeling about TWBTS. So I’m not too concerned about her bringing by any more JWs for another visit.

All those years of "devil music" has chased out any remnant of Kingdom Melodies from my mind. Does any one remember the song book before it was called Kingdom Melodies?

your conversion into the Troof--what "did it" for you?
by M.J. inthose of us who never signed on often find it extremely hard to truly understand how one could come to believe in the message from wts as fact.
what attracted you?
what sealed the deal?

My old KH has also been re-built. I have never seen the new building thought it probablly about a year or two old by know. Im not sure what happened to the old one. Maybe I'll do a drive by to see if any one has moved in yet. The only window I can remember in the entire building was in the men's toilet room. They put an adhesive film on the glass to make it obscure yet translucent.
